It’s the privilege of assuming things will work out, that someone else will fix it, that justice is automatic, and that history bends toward justice and fairness on its own.

It’s the luxury of believing that the system, however flawed, still serves you. That laws are written with you in mind. That jobs will be there when you graduate. That your body and looks won’t be profiled, your voice won’t be silenced, your future won’t be sold off for someone else’s profit.

But for most of us, that’s not how the world works.
